Fjordman's first draft of "A European Declaration of Independence" should be spread widely in the whole of Europe, before it's too late. Our governments have abandoned us long ago by choosing to be the enemy of the native European peoples, but if we common citizens unite and get organized, we can still make a difference. After the death last Sunday of Rinie Mulder, a 54-year old indigenous Dutchman who was shot by a police officer, non-immigrant citizens went on a rampage in Utrecht. Apparently Mulder intervened when Muslim youths harassed a pregnant native Dutch woman. Locals claim the police has failed to protect them for years. They say the authorities are afraid of the immigrants and tolerate their criminal behavior.

This issue is not just about Utrecht or Holland. Similar resentment against Muslim immigrants, but at least as much against their own authorities, is quietly brewing among the natives all over Western Europe.

It is insulting that two thirds of the Dutch, one of the founding members of the European community, voted against the proposed EU Constitution, and yet EU leaders will apparently just ignore this and force their massively undemocratic Constitution down people's throats anyway. The German Presidency wants EU leaders to agree on a text for a new treaty by February 2008. The label 'Constitution' is to be dropped, in order to avoid further referendums.

European Commission president Jose Manuel Barroso expressed unease with the prospect of a second Dutch constitution referendum. "Referendums make the process of approval of European treaties much more complicated and less predictable," he said "If a referendum had been held on the creation of the European Community or the introduction of the Euro, do you think these would have passed?"

Although the EU warns against "Islamophobia," those who live in the real world know that there has been an explosion of violent infidelophobia in Western Europe staged by Muslim immigrants. This wave of violence especially targets Jews, but the attacks against Christians that are going on in the Middle East are increasingly spreading to Europe as well. In more and more cities across the continent, non-Muslims are being harassed, robbed, mugged, raped, stabbed and even killed by Muslims. Native Europeans are slowly becoming second-rate citizens in their own countries. Read it all here.

The Brussels Journal: Utrecht: Ethnic Riots after Dutchman is Killed by Police

Ondiep, a working class neighbourhood in the Dutch town of Utrecht, is in turmoil. After the death last Sunday of Rinie Mulder, a 54-year old indigenous Dutchman who was shot by a police officer, non-immigrant citizens went on a rampage, burning cars, looting shops and arsoning a community centre in “inverted Paris style riots.” According to our sources the police officer who killed Mulder is a woman of Moroccan origin.

The Ondiep residents have been complaining for months about harassment and intimidation by immigrant youths of Moroccan origin. The Dutch mainstream media do not go into much detail about what is going on. Most of them do not mention the ethnicity of the victim and the police officer, though the riots clearly have an ethnic nature.

Apparently Mulder intervened when Muslim youths harassed a pregnant native Dutch woman. He was able to grab the knife of one of the youths. When the police arrived Mulder was shot because he had raised the knife. Witnesses say Mulder was indicating to the police that he had called for them.

Locals claim the police has failed to protect them for years. They say the authorities are afraid of the immigrants and tolerate their criminal behaviour. After the death of Mulder the indigenous Dutch decided they had had enough and started riots which went on for two continuous nights. The police made 130 arrests: 60 of them are Ondiep residents. According to the mainstream media the others are mainly “football hooligans” from other parts of the country. Annie Brouwer-Korf, the Socialist mayor of Utrecht, has ordered Ondiep to be sealed off from the rest of town to keep non-residents out. She expressed some sympathy for the frustrated Ondiep residents. “I understand that residents are sometimes upset about the nuisance around their own house and neighbourhood. That does you no good whatsoever.”

The Guardian: The Netherlands may become the first European country to ban Muslim face veils after its government pledged yesterday to outlaw the wearing in public spaces of the niqab, or veil, and the burka, or full-length cloak covering the head. The right-leaning coalition said last night that it would look for a way to outlaw the wearing of all Muslim face veils. The grounds for a ban were laid last December when parliament voted in favour of a proposal to criminalise face coverings, as part of a security measure proposed by a far-right politician, Geert Wilders.

Recent comments by European politicians might cause these young Swedes to think about pushing the date forward a couple of decades. Consider the situation in the Netherlands. Just this month a female Muslim teacher was suspended by a school in Amsterdam for refusing to shake hands with men. Dutch Justice Minister Piet Hein Donner, trying to show his countrymen that dhiminni status is something to be proud of, said in an interview in the recently published book Het land van haat en nijd, (The Land of Hate and Anger) that he is not bothered by Muslims refusing to shake his hand. He also said it was wise for the Queen of the Netherlands not to have insisted that a Muslim leader shake her hand when she visited his mosque in The Hague earlier this year.

Immigrants vote for their own

The Brussels Journal article, "Grey Wolves in Politics: The Immigrant Far-Right Joins the European Left", is a frightening look at the future of Europe as it pertains to immigration and politics:

The immigrant vote is becoming ever more important in Europe. In many countries foreigners are allowed to vote in local elections (in addition to thousands of immigrants who have been granted citizenship). In last spring’s municipal elections in the Netherlands the immigrant vote tipped the balance clearly in favour of the Left. Indeed, immigrants in Western Europe, who often migrated in order to enjoy generous welfare benefits, are rentseekers who vote in favour of maintaining the welfare systems of the states that invited them in. Of course, the immigrants will not be able to remedy the economic flaws of the welfare state. Hence, there is no doubt that the welfare systems will collapse. Moreover, the immigrant electorate will thwart any attempts to gradually remedy Europe’s economic catastrophe through abandoning the self-defeating welfare politics. This makes it even more likely that the system will collapse in chaos, possibly even (as Fjordman fears) in violence when the rentseekers will use force instead of the vote to grab what they feel they are entitled to. Many indigenous Europeans are considering emigration. Partly because they no longer feel secure and at home in their own country, and partly because the welfare state claims most of their income, while they have little hope that this will change in the future.

In last Spring’s municipal elections in the Netherlands, 92% of the non-indigenous electorate voted for parties of the Left. Moreover, they voted almost exclusively for candidates of their own ethnic groups on the parties’ electoral lists, driving out indigenous candidates. Instead of starting their own parties immigrants have begun to take over existing ones.

Belgium is holding municipal elections on October 8th. It is striking that in immigrant neighbourhoods, such as the Turkish Antwerp district of Old Berchem, one only sees posters of candidates from the ethnic background specific to the neighbourhood. [snip]

The leading Turkish politician in Brussels is Emir Kir, a Socialist member of the Brussels regional government. Mr Kir is the Brussels secretary for public monuments and is campaigning for the demolition of the Brussels monument commemorating the 1915 genocide of the Armenians. (more)

Multiculturalism and the new racists

As defined by Wikipedia, 'Multiculturalism is an ideology advocating that society should consist of, or at least allow and include, distinct cultural groups, with equal status. Multiculturalism contrasts with the monoculturalism which was historically the norm in the European nation-state.'

That was and is Europe. In the United States, historically things have been different. 'The central metaphor is the idea of the Melting Pot - where all the immigrant cultures are mixed and amalgamated without state intervention. The Melting Pot implied that each individual immigrant, and each group of immigrants, assimilated into American society at their own pace, improving their income and social status on the way.'

Europe is paying the price for non-assimilation of immigrants, specifically Muslims. Unfortunately America may be headed in the same direction. Multiculturalism is a growing force in America's universities and public life, according to Ayn Rand.

In common language, that means that all cultures, from that of a 'spirits-worshiping tribe to that of an advanced industrial civilization, are NOT equal and CANNOT live in a country together and yet separate on equal footing.

We are opposed to this destructive doctrine. We hold that moral judgment is essential to life. The ideas and values that animate a particular culture can and should be judged objectively. A culture that values freedom, progress, reason and science, for instance, is good; one that values oppression, stagnation, mysticism, and ignorance is not. source

The Assyrian International News Agency in The Death of Multiculturalism
brought together a groups of experts, Bat Ye'or, Claire Berlinski, Bruce Bawer, Fjordman, Hege Storhaug, Leon de Winter, and Lars Hedegaard, to answer these questions:

First: what exactly have been the consequences of Muslim immigration to Western Europe? Second: has the official policy of multiculturalism in Western Europe suffered a death? If so, is it too little too late?

... but the response of many other Danes has been to fret endlessly about the reputation of their country elsewhere in Europe, in the EU, and in the UN. Journalists and politicians have told them that the Muhammed cartoons, and Fogh Rasmussen's defense of Jyllands-Posten's right to print them, have given Denmark a reputation as racist, as "Islamophobic" -- and they've bought it, and feel apologetic about it. Whether or not they really think their country is racist is irrelevant -- they're worried about Denmark's image. In the Netherlands, Pim Fortuyn and Theo van Gogh were also heroic opponents of multicultural mindlessness -- and were killed for it.

I will leave you with one last throught from Storhaug: 'The Left in Norway has now even constructed a new term; "new racism". "The new racist" is a person who is critical to political Islam. This false construction, combined with also labelling those who are critical to political Islam as "Islamophobes", has its obvious parallels to techniques used by the followers of Stalin.'

The lastest "interfaith" UK poll indicates the rising concerns of the general population towards Islam. Similarly, various recent polls all seem to point to a growing awareness among normal European citizens about the current Islamic threat to Europe. This recent essay from Fjordman, Waiting for Churchill or Waiting for Godot?, illustrates the significance of these polls and much more.

... "During the height of the Muhammad cartoons crisis, Fjordman was among the minority who thought this was good news for Europe and the West. Although it may sound absurd to Americans, those rather innocent cartoons may have done more to open the eyes of Europeans to the Islamic threat than the terror attacks of 9/11, the London and Madrid bombings combined. People who can burn down embassies because of something so silly quite simply don't have anything at all in common with us, and cannot function in our democratic societies. Muslims may have pushed too far, too early, and thus jolted some life back into even the near-comatose continent of Europe. Asked if there should be a ban on the building of mosques in Germany as long as the building of churches in some Islamic states is forbidden, 56 per cent agreed. There was even considerable backing for ending Germany's constitutional right of freedom of religion with regard to Islam. Asked if strict limits should be imposed on the practice of Islam in Germany to protect the country, 40 per cent said they would support such moves. In the Netherlands, 63 per cent of respondents thought Islam was incompatible with modern European life. Even in Sweden, the purgatory of Political Correctness, opinion polls have revealed that two out of three Swedes doubt whether Islam can be combined with Swedish society. Recently, I have also for the first time seen visible cracks in the wall of censorship on public debate in Sweden. Change is in the air, all over Europe.

Europeans now gradually start to awaken from the spell of Multiculturalism, Political Correctness and Muslim immigration, but they still don't know how deep the rabbit hole goes. Most of them still haven't heard of Eurabia, or the fact that the European Union, including many of their own, entrusted representatives, have actively encouraged massive Muslim immigration to the continent. Until they do this, it will be more difficult to bring down the EU, and that is absolutely necessary in my view for Europe to prevail from this. No, the EU isn't the only problem Europe has, but it is by far the worst, and we don't have even a theoretical chance of fixing our other problems as long as the EU is in charge. It needs to be removed completely. The hour is late. Is it too late? Even if it's not too late, whatever can be done needs to be done soon.

...There are many people who think Europe is already lost. I happen to be among the ones who have stated that this is only one of several possible outcomes. Europe is now at one of those famous crossroads where the course of history could go either way. Given the weakness of Europe and the rapid expansion of Islam, it would be foolish to discount the possibility that Muslims could win this. However, I happen to think that another possibility is that Islam not only will lose the battle for Europe, but could become destroyed as a global force during this century. Maybe in some strange way, Europe needs to go through a period of colonization and de-colonization herself, to get rid of her post-colonial guilt complex?"

12 Arrested Over Flight Alert

HAARLEM, Netherlands (AP) -- Prosecutors said Thursday they found no evidence of a terrorist threat aboard a Northwest Airlines flight to India that returned to Amsterdam, and they are releasing all 12 passengers arrested after the emergency landing.

The men, all Indian nationals, had aroused suspicions on Flight NW0042 to Bombay because they had a large number of cell phones, lap tops and hard drives, and refused to follow the crew's instructions, prosecutors said.

A Northwest Airlines flight bound to India was forced to return to Amsterdam - escorted by F-16s - because of suspicious passenger activity. Dutch police have arrested 12 passengers of "South Asian appearance".

Flight 42 returned to Amsterdam's Schiphol Airport "after several passengers displayed behavior of concern," Northwest Airlines said in a written statement.

Some of the passengers pulled out cell phones during the flight and appeared to be trying to pass the cell phones to other passengers, a U.S. government official said.

In addition, some passengers unfastened their seatbelts while the light requiring they be fastened was still illuminated, the official said.

That was enough for U.S. air marshals aboard the DC-10 to break their cover. Flight attendants ordered the passengers to heed the orders of the marshals, the official added.

"The study found 40 percent of the Moroccan youth in the Netherlands reject western values and democracy. Six to seven percent are prepared to use force to defend Islam. The majority are opposed to freedom of speech for offensive statements, particularly criticism of Islam."

This poll's results indicate that the Dutch appear not to be too fooled by their PC dhimmi leaders. Brainwashing doesn't work on everyone.

There's something remarkable going on in the Netherlands. Ever since I've entered the political arena, we’re confronted with a resurrection of the extreme right. I haven't noticed this myself, but many a politician and journalist from the establishement apparently has. I don't do anything more then name and analyse the problems in [the Netherlands] in a clear language that everyone can understand and I've suggested numerous solutions to the problems I've identified. Insofar as those solutions are at hand, that is.
After all, the Church of the Left, GroenLinks, PvdA (Green Left and Labour –HW-) and the media entwined with them, have for years prevented us from measuring – that would only be stigmatising – and well, how is one to know then? All that notwithstanding, particularly Elsevier magazine and the opiniating yours truely have been working for eight years to chart [Dutch] multicultural society and – oh miracle – we've been wonderfully succesful, despite all the official and informal resistance of everything and everyone we will for convenience categorize as the Extreme Left. The success was so complete that if you wanted to know facts and figures regarding the failure of Dutch multicultural society, the side bars of Elsevier magazine are more worthy of study then, for example, the information at the Ministry of Justice. Thanks to the extreme left, who have continuously frustrated and prevented discussion of the facts, no holds barred.
The extreme left – GroenLinks and PvdA plus accomplices in official and media circles – have, through the thought police, i.e. the so-called anti-racism committees subsidized by you [the Dutch citizen], nipped any and criticism on the blessings of a multi-cultural society in the bud. And woe is the critic that didn’t express himself careful enough. The state's crown prosecutors would jump on the opportunity to drag him before a judge.
Have you ever heard of a Maroccan or Iranian brought before a judge for viciously anti-semitical remarks? Or a muslim for calling our women prostitutes and ourselves christian dogs? I didn’t. As you may know, I don’t necessarily want to hear about it, because freedom of speech trumps all, in my opinion, as long as there’s no incitements to hatred or violence.
The extreme left, however, chose to have poop in the eyes where these categories of insults were concerned. Because Jews and indigenous Dutch do not, of course, merit sympathy. The worst thing is that the crown prosecutor followed the extreme left so naturally, while the crown prosecutor, Lady Justice, is supposed to have a blindfold, literally with no regard for a persons stature or background.
We are at a point where it is possible to talk normally about the problems of multi-cultural society. But if I understand things correctly this is only thanks to the extreme left, that have always seen things in this way. Even that scary little GroenLinks, riddled with ex-communists, feels that firm action (or rather: firm words) are allowed every now and then. But remember it was these ghost whisperers that sabotaged any discussion by labelling critics as racists, fascists, xenophobes and by invariably tying the discussion directly to the blackest page in our history: the Holocaust.
I’ve have seldomly seen such an example of ideological terrorism, and that during a number of decades, by the very people that all of a sudden have seen the light and shamelessly, without any apology, label us extreme right.
Groen Links and its extremely left wing ideology (I will not speak another word of them until May 15th [2002]) are a disaster for The Netherlands. Billions more will be dumped into the bottomless pit of healthcare, education, security and immigration policy. For the former three this has been standard procedure for years now, without any signifcant improvement in efficiency or performance. We need to clean up and improve the whole kit 'n kaboodle first. Then see whether there is any improvement in performance before deciding who will and who will not receive extra money.
In short, the exercise of power in education, healthcare and security should go back to the teachers, the doctors and nurses and the police officers. Those are the people that know the business and not all those dreadful burocrats and managers, that have never stood in front of a class, never have seen a patient or caught a criminal. All these sectors have been run a-ground by power in the hands of burocrats, the omnipotence of administration and the know-it-all meddlesomeness of all those managers and experts.
If it is up to GroenLinks and the PvdA, despite all the tough language, the borders will remain open and the flood of immigrants from other countries and cultures will not really be dammed. On the contrary, it’ll continue as before, every three or four years a moderately large city of new immigrants added, mostly filled with problem cases, people that will hardly grasp the language and will integrate only with difficulty. The success of the citizenship courses is an indication: Only 15% of the participants has, at the time of 'graduation', a workable command of the Dutch language. Count your blessings(!).
In short, if you want to help this country even further 'to hell in a hand basket', vote for the extreme left, i.e. either PvdA or GroenLinks, of course.

Only two of the world's religions believe they will come to dominate global allegiance: Christianity and Islam. The Crusades lasted so long and were so bloody because these religions were at odds for what each considered worldwide dominance.
With this as a backdrop, it is worth asking why there were so many riots and chaos across the globe over cartoons that caricatured Prophet Muhammad and every real or perceived slight against Islam. After all, in the "Divine Comedy", Dante meets Muhammad suffering in the fires of hell. The Cathedral of Bologna has shown frescoes of Muhammad in an unfavorable light for centuries.
Why then the extreme reaction to seemingly innocuous events?
In my judgment, Islamic clerics have decided "the final solution", the triumph of Islam over Christendom is near. Here is the contemporary Crusades fought on a new stage. There will be many battles fought over trifling issues, an insult or perceived incident, that triggers riots.
Why now? A belief is circulating in the Islamic world that a secular West no longer has the will to resist Islamic jihad. In fact, the compromises and willingness to accommodate Islamic factions in European societies are recognized as signs of weakness. The more open and liberal the society, the more likely it is a target for jihad. It is not coincidental that Denmark now faces daily riots or the Netherlands was where a filmmaker, Theo Van Gogh, was murdered on the streets.
For Islamists the moment for a triumphalist campaign has arrived, a moment not unlike the jihad Muhammad launched against the three Jewish tribes in Arabia in the seventh century.
That the West considers this Islamic fanaticism a form of acting out over deplorable conditions faced by Muslims within their borders also plays to Islam's strength. Believing there must be a rational explanation for seemingly irrational behavior, Western leaders bend over backward to make accommodations. Rarely do leaders conclude the violence is fomented by religious zealotry no liberal concessions can mitigate.
The riots are aimed at breaking Western will. They are a tactic to test the fortitude of the West, to see if there is any religious devotion that can withstand the onslaught. If one considers the feeble response from European capitals, you would have to believe Islamic clerics are right.
Rather than treat the riots as a frontal attack on Christianity, most leaders describe the incidents as aberrational, a function of high unemployment rates or poor housing conditions. Blinded by their liberalism, they cannot appreciate the nature of the assault.
I have heard European analysts say that the rantings of Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad should not be taken literally. But as I see it that is precisely what we should be doing. His call for martyrdom is in fact a plea for Armageddon. What he says is precisely what the mullahs believe.
With Europe now in disarray on the policy front, with Hamas installed in the Palestinian territory, with Iran on the brink of nuclear weapons acquisition, the signs for the final solution are emerging.
Though the West chooses to deny this clash of civilizations, it is here and all the economic concessions will not make it go away. In fact, any concession is perceived as a reward for violence.
There is a civilizational fatwa metastasizing around the globe in mosques from Hamburg to Tehran, from Nablus to Malmo and from the streets of Copenhagen to the streets of Islamabad. For Muslims, jihad is in the air and the more it manifests itself in orchestrated street theater, the more it will show the weakness of Christianity.
This is fast becoming the test of our age; the challenge to our civilization is now well into Act 1 of a three-act play. How it unfolds remains to be seen. But if the West cannot marshall the spiritual strength to resist, these contemporary Crusades will assuredly end in disaster.

Ayaan Hirsi Ali Loses Her Home

Hot Air reports on the bad news. Really a set-back into dhimmitude for the Netherlands. If only they spent as much energy into getting the stalkers! I guess that's not PC enough.

Via Peaktalk, the story of Ayaan Hirsi Ali just gets worse. Hirsi Ali is the Somali-born Dutch parliamentarian whose outspokenness on the rights of women under Islam has made her a marked woman. Islamists have issued a fatwa calling for her death. And now she's been evicted by court order at the request of her neighbors, who find her security concerns a nuisance. The Dutch court used superseding European law as the basis of its ruling:

The court considers in its ruling that the neighbors have been put into a situation that has contributed to them feeling less safe in their own house. That feeling is extended to the communal living spaces of the apartment complex, but also to their own apartments. The court argues that this is a severe violation of one's private life (as per Article 8 of the European Treaty for Human Rights).

[I guess having a fatwa issued against you doesn't count as a severe violation...]

Hirsi Ali hasn't broken any laws; she has criticized the lack of women's rights under Islam, which under Dutch law she is supposedly free to do. The threats against her for speaking out are for real: Her friend and co-producer on the film Submission, Theo Van Gogh, was brutally murdered by an Islamist on the streets of Amsterdam. But the law that isn't doing anything about the Islamists issuing fatwas and threatening death evicts Hirsi Ali from her own home because her security problems are too much to bear for her neighbors, citing an abstract violation of private life. It would seem to me that if there's a violation of one's private life going on here, it's being done by the Islamists who are stalking Ayaan Hirsi Ali. [Amen to that] Wherever she ends up, they will continue to stalk her. If her new neighbors sue, she will be evicted again.
