The Native Revolt & The Need For A European Declaration of Independence

A "Native Revolt: A European Declaration of Independence" is another brilliant Fjordman essay. A real must-read. Fjordman's first draft of "A European Declaration of Independence" should be spread widely in the whole of Europe, before it's too late. Our governments have abandoned us long ago by choosing to be the enemy of the native European peoples, but if we common citizens unite and get organized, we can still make a difference. Fjordman's "A European Declaration of Independence" would represent a good starting point. I urge you to read the essay in its entirety.

After the death last Sunday of Rinie Mulder, a 54-year old indigenous Dutchman who was shot by a police officer, non-immigrant citizens went on a rampage in Utrecht. Apparently Mulder intervened when Muslim youths harassed a pregnant native Dutch woman. Locals claim the police has failed to protect them for years. They say the authorities are afraid of the immigrants and tolerate their criminal behavior.

This issue is not just about Utrecht or Holland. Similar resentment against Muslim immigrants, but at least as much against their own authorities, is quietly brewing among the natives all over Western Europe.

It is insulting that two thirds of the Dutch, one of the founding members of the European community, voted against the proposed EU Constitution, and yet EU leaders will apparently just ignore this and force their massively undemocratic Constitution down people's throats anyway. The German Presidency wants EU leaders to agree on a text for a new treaty by February 2008. The label 'Constitution' is to be dropped, in order to avoid further referendums.

European Commission president Jose Manuel Barroso expressed unease with the prospect of a second Dutch constitution referendum. "Referendums make the process of approval of European treaties much more complicated and less predictable," he said "If a referendum had been held on the creation of the European Community or the introduction of the Euro, do you think these would have passed?"

Although the EU warns against "Islamophobia," those who live in the real world know that there has been an explosion of violent infidelophobia in Western Europe staged by Muslim immigrants. This wave of violence especially targets Jews, but the attacks against Christians that are going on in the Middle East are increasingly spreading to Europe as well. In more and more cities across the continent, non-Muslims are being harassed, robbed, mugged, raped, stabbed and even killed by Muslims. Native Europeans are slowly becoming second-rate citizens in their own countries. Read it all here.

Fjordman: Is Islam Compatible with Democracy? part 2

Part 1 here.
According to Salim Mansur, associate professor of political science at the University of Western Ontario, Canada, "Democracy is in a cultural sense an expression of the liberal modern world that situates the individual as the moral center of politics and society. (…) It is the idea of the inalienable rights located in the individual, rights that need to be protected, nurtured, and allowed the fullest unhindered expression that makes democracy so morally distinctive from other cultural systems. From this liberal perspective, the common error about democracy is to view it as a majority system of governance. In a democracy based on individual rights, on the contrary, it is the protection of the rights of minorities and dissidents that reflect the different nature of politics within the larger context of democratic culture." Fjordman: Why the European Union Must be Dismantled

Another must-read by Fjordman:
In my criticism of the European Union, I have been accused of being too positive towards the nation state. It is true that Western civilization isn't exclusively about nation states. The Renaissance took place in the city states of Italy while nation states were non-existent or weak. It is also true that there is a potentially destructive side to nationalism as opposed to defensive patriotism. However, our current democratic system is tied to nation states. The EU didn't cause all of Europe's problems, but it made some of them worse, and added a few new ones. If the EU collapsed tomorrow, we would still be in a lot of trouble, but at least we would have a fighting chance. I have heard a number of people say that "Europe is already lost." I do agree with them that if the political situation remains as it is today, then yes, Europe is lost to Islam, or at least significant parts of Western Europe, maybe not all of Eastern Europe. But I'm not so sure whether the political situation will, or has to, remain as it is today.

Tens of millions of ordinary citizens are now rapidly waking up to the full scale of the Islamic threat. The problem is that many Western Europeans have a sense of hopelessness because they need to confront so many enemies at the same time. Let's call them Enemy 1, 2 and 3. Enemy 1 is Islam and Muslim immigration. Enemy 2 is the anti-Western bias of our media and academia.

....We can start with the Muslims. Their greatest flaw is that they are insanely aggressive and can't handle criticism or mockery at all. A smart move would be to deliberately provoke Muslims as much as humanly possible. The more they rage and rant and threaten, the more they will discredit the ones who said it was a good idea to let them into our countries and that everybody who said otherwise were "racists."

New Fjordman Essay

Thou Shalt Hate Christianity and Judaism

As a non-religious person, but still one that acknowledges and respects the impact of Judeo-Christian thinking on Western culture, I have warned against naïve Christian compassion related to Muslim immigration, as well as a disturbing tendency among too many Christian organizations to ally themselves with Muslims, for "religious values" and against Israel. But frankly, the most useful allies Muslims have in the West more often than not tend to be found among the non-religious crowd.

A number of executives and star presenters at the British Broadcasting Corporation admitted what critics already knew: The BBC is dominated by Left-leaning liberals who are anti-American and biased against Christianity, but sensitive to the feelings of Muslims. Former BBC business editor Jeff Randall said he complained to a very senior news executive about the BBC's pro-Multicultural stance, but was given the reply: "The BBC is not neutral in Multiculturalism: it believes in it and it promotes it."

The anti-Christian element seems to be a trait shared by Multiculturalists in all Western countries. Thomas Hylland Eriksen is a professor of social anthropology at the University of Oslo. He has written many books and is a frequent contributor of newspaper essays. He is also leading a major project for studying the Multicultural society in Norway.

... What are the problems presented by Mr. Anfindsen? Well, he has published numbers indicating that if the current immigration continues, native Norwegians will be a minority in their own country within a couple of generations. And a large proportion of the new population will be Muslims. Read it all.

Fjordman: The Eurabia Code, Part 4

We Have to Destroy the European Union in Order to Save Europe

Here are some Big Lies:

  • Diversity is always good;
  • Multiculturalism is inevitable, as is continued EU integration;
  • Those opposing it are ignorant racists standing against the tide of history;
  • Muslim immigration is “good for the economy” and is necessary for funding the welfare state in the future, despite the fact that it drains away enormous resources.
The creation of Eurabia ranks as one of the greatest betrayals in the history of Western civilization.

Fjordman's Recommendations For The West

After writing many excellent essays analysing and reporting on the big big problem of the West, Fjordman has answered the challenge of coming up with solutions. Here you can read the whole document.
The West at the beginning of the 21st century suffers from a lack of cultural confidence, and is in some ways engaged in an internal struggle over the very meaning of Western civilization. This ideological “war within the West” has helped paved the way for the physical “war against the West” that is waged by Muslim Jihadists, who quite correctly view our creed of Multiculturalism and our acceptance of Muslim immigration as signs of weakness and that the West has lost contact with its civilizational roots.

Multiculturalism is wrong because not all cultures are equal. However, it is also championed by groups with a hidden agenda. Multiculturalism serves as a tool for ruling elites to fool people, to keep them from knowing that they have lost, or deliberately vacated, control over national borders. Leftists who dislike Western civilization use Multiculturalism to undermine it, a hate ideology disguised as tolerance. Multiculturalism equals the unilateral destruction of Western culture, the only unilateral action the West is allowed to take, according to some.

The Church - Part of the Problem or Part of the Solution?

A new essay from Fjordman:
.... Christians need to understand that there can be no peace or understanding with the Islamic world. They want to subdue us, pure and simple. Church leaders of all denominations, Protestant, Catholic, Orthodox, must stop stabbing Israel in the back and campaigning for a de facto open borders policy while Muslims are threatening to swamp our lands. Yes, Christianity teaches compassion, but it also teaches identifying evil and standing up to it. At the end of the day, the Church must decide whether, in the defense of civilization, it wants to be a part of the problem or a part of the solution.

Immigrants vote for their own

The Brussels Journal article, "Grey Wolves in Politics: The Immigrant Far-Right Joins the European Left", is a frightening look at the future of Europe as it pertains to immigration and politics:

The immigrant vote is becoming ever more important in Europe. In many countries foreigners are allowed to vote in local elections (in addition to thousands of immigrants who have been granted citizenship). In last spring’s municipal elections in the Netherlands the immigrant vote tipped the balance clearly in favour of the Left. Indeed, immigrants in Western Europe, who often migrated in order to enjoy generous welfare benefits, are rentseekers who vote in favour of maintaining the welfare systems of the states that invited them in. [snip]

Of course, the immigrants will not be able to remedy the economic flaws of the welfare state. Hence, there is no doubt that the welfare systems will collapse. Moreover, the immigrant electorate will thwart any attempts to gradually remedy Europe’s economic catastrophe through abandoning the self-defeating welfare politics. This makes it even more likely that the system will collapse in chaos, possibly even (as Fjordman fears) in violence when the rentseekers will use force instead of the vote to grab what they feel they are entitled to. Many indigenous Europeans are considering emigration. Partly because they no longer feel secure and at home in their own country, and partly because the welfare state claims most of their income, while they have little hope that this will change in the future.

In last Spring’s municipal elections in the Netherlands, 92% of the non-indigenous electorate voted for parties of the Left. Moreover, they voted almost exclusively for candidates of their own ethnic groups on the parties’ electoral lists, driving out indigenous candidates. Instead of starting their own parties immigrants have begun to take over existing ones.

Belgium is holding municipal elections on October 8th. It is striking that in immigrant neighbourhoods, such as the Turkish Antwerp district of Old Berchem, one only sees posters of candidates from the ethnic background specific to the neighbourhood. [snip]

The leading Turkish politician in Brussels is Emir Kir, a Socialist member of the Brussels regional government. Mr Kir is the Brussels secretary for public monuments and is campaigning for the demolition of the Brussels monument commemorating the 1915 genocide of the Armenians. (more)

Dhimmitude Abounds

From Gates of Vienna "Why We Cannot Rely on Moderate Muslims" by Fjordman who is posting at Gates of Vienna.

According to Dr. Daniel Pipes, Omar Ahmad, the long-serving chairman of CAIR, the Council on American-Islamic Relations, reportedly told a crowd of California Muslims in July 1998, “Islam isn’t in America to be equal to any other faith, but to become dominant. The Koran ... should be the highest authority in America, and Islam the only accepted religion on earth.”

In 2005, three Dallas-area brothers were convicted of supporting terrorism by funnelling money to a high-ranking official in the militant Palestinian group Hamas. Ghassan and Bayan Elashi and their company were found guilty of all 21 federal counts they faced: conspiracy, money laundering and dealing in property of a terrorist. Ghassan Elashi was the founder of the Texas chapter of CAIR. (go read it all)
Fjordman is a wonderful writer and I try to read everything he writes. This particular article is one of his best. Do go read it, check the references and links and look at the pictures.

Also at Gates of Vienna today, by Dymphna , "The Danish Face in the NATO Picture":

In a previous post, one which dealt with General Abizaid’s visit to the Middle East in July, there was a briefing in Kabul. There, the General was informed about a request for a U.S. military police battalion. Soldier-like, the Genral responded: “Bulls---! The alliance needs to start acting like an alliance.” He wants the NATO team to “have more than an American and British face.”

Hmm…some big ears in Denmark must have been listening.

Jægerkorpset logoIn what has been termed a “Commandogram from Denmark”, Danish special forces at home have requested to be sent to Afghanistan to support their fellow-soldiers currently serving as part of the NATO alliance which has taken over counter-terrorism efforts in that country.
Go read it all here.

From Little Green Footballs, "Britain's Disastrous Coddling of Radical Islam":

The Daily Mail reports that four Muslim organizations connected to the 7/7 bombers received large sums of money from the British government.

Government grants totalling hundreds of thousands of pounds were handed out to Muslim organisations infiltrated by the July 7 suicide bombers.

Huge chunks of taxpayers’ money were given to four Leeds-based institutions that were the haunts of ring-leader Mohammed Sidique Khan and Shehzad Tanweer. Grants ranging from a few hundred pounds to £200,000 were made in Beeston, the bombers’ home territory where three of the four 7/7 bombers lived.

The money came from funds intended to regenerate the area but suspicions persist that some of the cash may have been diverted to recruit and train the home-grown terrorists who killed 52 people in last year’s attacks.

The Iqra Islamic bookshop - where hate-filled DVDs glorifying suicide bombers were produced - was one recipient.

Leeds Community School, which shared the same building with the radical bookstore, obtained a grant of over £106,000 for ‘staffing and construction costs.’

The ‘al-Qaeda gym’ in the basement of a nearby mosque used by Edgware Road bomber Khan,30, was also equipped with money provided by Leeds City Council.

The Hamara youth centre, raided by police after the four men blew themselves and where Khan’s inner circle met, received two £200,000 grants for building costs and an £189,000 EU building grant.

Details of the government financing emerged during research for a Channel 4 documentary, Cult of the Suicide Bomber.

I need to say that I think CAIR is nothing but a front for the Islamic terrorists and they happen to be located INSIDE the United States of America. I believe it is a mistake of great dhimmitude on our government's part to allow them free reign in America. They have made their goal plain and simple for their entire existence. Why the US government will not realize their goal of making the great United States of America an Islamic nation is beyond my ability to understand.

Multiculturalism and the new racists

As defined by Wikipedia, 'Multiculturalism is an ideology advocating that society should consist of, or at least allow and include, distinct cultural groups, with equal status. Multiculturalism contrasts with the monoculturalism which was historically the norm in the European nation-state.'

That was and is Europe. In the United States, historically things have been different. 'The central metaphor is the idea of the Melting Pot - where all the immigrant cultures are mixed and amalgamated without state intervention. The Melting Pot implied that each individual immigrant, and each group of immigrants, assimilated into American society at their own pace, improving their income and social status on the way.'

Europe is paying the price for non-assimilation of immigrants, specifically Muslims. Unfortunately America may be headed in the same direction. Multiculturalism is a growing force in America's universities and public life, according to Ayn Rand.

In common language, that means that all cultures, from that of a 'spirits-worshiping tribe to that of an advanced industrial civilization, are NOT equal and CANNOT live in a country together and yet separate on equal footing.

We are opposed to this destructive doctrine. We hold that moral judgment is essential to life. The ideas and values that animate a particular culture can and should be judged objectively. A culture that values freedom, progress, reason and science, for instance, is good; one that values oppression, stagnation, mysticism, and ignorance is not. source
The Assyrian International News Agency in The Death of Multiculturalism
brought together a groups of experts, Bat Ye'or, Claire Berlinski, Bruce Bawer, Fjordman, Hege Storhaug, Leon de Winter, and Lars Hedegaard, to answer these questions:

First: what exactly have been the consequences of Muslim immigration to Western Europe? Second: has the official policy of multiculturalism in Western Europe suffered a death? If so, is it too little too late?
You can go read the full text of the debate, but here are a few gems:

Fjordman: [snip] I do not believe there is such thing as a moderate Islam. I disagree with Storhaug in this regard. I can't see any significant signs that a Reformation of Islam is happening, and I have serious doubts as to whether it is possible at all, from a theological point of view. Ayaan Hirsi Ali is an ex-Muslim, not a secular Muslim, whatever that is. We are fooling ourselves with talk about peaceful coexistence with Islam. [snip]

It may sound unrealistic to talk about the collapse of the European Union or pulling out of the UN, but I believe things will rapidly get worse in the years ahead. A generation from now, things that will seem improbable or outright impossible now will have come to pass. We will see some of the largest changes in world politics since WW2, perhaps in centuries.

Bawer: [snip] ... the whole point is that Western European governments today tend to be so cowed by Islam that, within that context, Fogh Rasmussen's defiance was remarkable. [snip]
... but the response of many other Danes has been to fret endlessly about the reputation of their country elsewhere in Europe, in the EU, and in the UN. Journalists and politicians have told them that the Muhammed cartoons, and Fogh Rasmussen's defense of Jyllands-Posten's right to print them, have given Denmark a reputation as racist, as "Islamophobic" -- and they've bought it, and feel apologetic about it. Whether or not they really think their country is racist is irrelevant -- they're worried about Denmark's image. In the Netherlands, Pim Fortuyn and Theo van Gogh were also heroic opponents of multicultural mindlessness -- and were killed for it.
I will leave you with one last throught from Storhaug: 'The Left in Norway has now even constructed a new term; "new racism". "The new racist" is a person who is critical to political Islam. This false construction, combined with also labelling those who are critical to political Islam as "Islamophobes", has its obvious parallels to techniques used by the followers of Stalin.'

What say you?

Waiting for Churchill or Waiting for Godot?

The lastest "interfaith" UK poll indicates the rising concerns of the general population towards Islam. Similarly, various recent polls all seem to point to a growing awareness among normal European citizens about the current Islamic threat to Europe. This recent essay from Fjordman, Waiting for Churchill or Waiting for Godot?, illustrates the significance of these polls and much more.
... "During the height of the Muhammad cartoons crisis, Fjordman was among the minority who thought this was good news for Europe and the West. Although it may sound absurd to Americans, those rather innocent cartoons may have done more to open the eyes of Europeans to the Islamic threat than the terror attacks of 9/11, the London and Madrid bombings combined. People who can burn down embassies because of something so silly quite simply don't have anything at all in common with us, and cannot function in our democratic societies. Muslims may have pushed too far, too early, and thus jolted some life back into even the near-comatose continent of Europe. I see some signs that this interpretation may have been correct, and that the tide is indeed changing. Recent opinion polls indicate that there is now a critical mass of ordinary Europeans who no longer buy the brainwashing about Islam being a peaceful religion.

In Germany, according to a study commissioned by the Frankfurter Allgemeine Zeitung newspaper, 56 percent of Germans said they believed a "clash of cultures" already existed. 71 percent said they believed Islam to be "intolerant," some 91 per cent said they associated Islam with oppression of women. Asked if there should be a ban on the building of mosques in Germany as long as the building of churches in some Islamic states is forbidden, 56 per cent agreed. There was even considerable backing for ending Germany's constitutional right of freedom of religion with regard to Islam. Asked if strict limits should be imposed on the practice of Islam in Germany to protect the country, 40 per cent said they would support such moves. In the Netherlands, 63 per cent of respondents thought Islam was incompatible with modern European life. Even in Sweden, the purgatory of Political Correctness, opinion polls have revealed that two out of three Swedes doubt whether Islam can be combined with Swedish society. Recently, I have also for the first time seen visible cracks in the wall of censorship on public debate in Sweden. Change is in the air, all over Europe.

Europeans now gradually start to awaken from the spell of Multiculturalism, Political Correctness and Muslim immigration, but they still don't know how deep the rabbit hole goes. Most of them still haven't heard of Eurabia, or the fact that the European Union, including many of their own, entrusted representatives, have actively encouraged massive Muslim immigration to the continent. Until they do this, it will be more difficult to bring down the EU, and that is absolutely necessary in my view for Europe to prevail from this. No, the EU isn't the only problem Europe has, but it is by far the worst, and we don't have even a theoretical chance of fixing our other problems as long as the EU is in charge. It needs to be removed completely. The hour is late. Is it too late? Even if it's not too late, whatever can be done needs to be done soon.

...There are many people who think Europe is already lost. I happen to be among the ones who have stated that this is only one of several possible outcomes. Europe is now at one of those famous crossroads where the course of history could go either way. Given the weakness of Europe and the rapid expansion of Islam, it would be foolish to discount the possibility that Muslims could win this. However, I happen to think that another possibility is that Islam not only will lose the battle for Europe, but could become destroyed as a global force during this century. Maybe in some strange way, Europe needs to go through a period of colonization and de-colonization herself, to get rid of her post-colonial guilt complex?"

First They Came For the Jews: The Story of Yet Another World War

"... In Norway, it is probably unprecedented in the thousand years since the city of Oslo was founded at the end of the Viking Age that the indigenous population is being attacked on such a large and random scale. And the government is doing… well, pretty much nothing really, except for hiding the problem as much as possible and continuing Muslim immigration. This isn't good enough.

We are tired of hearing nonsense about "Islamophobia" while our children live in fear of Islamic terrorism. The purpose of the state is to uphold law and order and maintain the nation's borders and territorial integrity. Western European governments are doing neither, yet are busy with political censorship and interfering with details of our private lives where they have no business. It's time they are reminded that they are our servants, not our rulers...."

The Twin Myths of Eurabia

The lastest piece by Fjordman can be read at Dhimmi Watch.
Bat Ye'or is the most informed contemporary scholar of the unique Islamic institution of dhimmitude, the repressive and humiliating apartheid system imposed upon those non-Muslims (i.e., dhimmis) subjugated by Jihad. Sir Jadunath Sarkar, the pre-eminent historian of Mughal India, wrote the following in 1920 regarding the impact of centuries of Jihad and dhimmitude on the indigenous Hindus of the Indian subcontinent:

"The conversion of the entire population to Islam and the extinction of every form of dissent is the ideal of the Muslim State. If any infidel is suffered to exist in the community, it is as a necessary evil, and for a transitional period only. Political and social disabilities must be imposed on him, and bribes offered to him from the public funds, to hasten the day of his spiritual enlightenment and the addition of his name to the roll of true believers." "A non-Muslim therefore cannot be a citizen of the State; he is a member of a depressed class; his status is a modified form of slavery. He lives under a contract (zimma, or 'dhimma') with the State: for the life and property grudgingly spared to him by the commander of the faithful he must undergo political and social disabilities, and pay a commutation money. In short, his continued existence in the State after the conquest of his country by the Muslims is conditional upon his person and property made subservient to the cause of Islam."

According to Bat Ye'or, Eurabia is essentially a political project for a demographic and cultural symbiosis between Europe and the Arab Muslim world, a new extended Mediterranean "continent" made possible by EU authorities through deliberately favoring Muslim immigration, promoting Multiculturalism and the dissemination of Arab and Islamic culture in Europe. In the essay Andalusian Myth, Eurabian Reality, co-authored with Andrew G. Bostom, editor of the comprehensive book The Legacy of Jihad: Islamic Holy War and the Fate of Non-Muslims, Bat Ye'or dispels one of the founding myths of Eurabia: that of the alleged "tolerance" of medieval Spain under Islamic rule.

Stupidity Without Borders — The Alliance of Utopias

Yet another gem from Fjordman.
"In the middle of the massive waves of migration in the 21st century it is suicidal to cling on to ideas of a “borderless world.” Yet in the West, there seems to be an alliance between the anti-national forces of the political Left and the Libertarian ideals and short-term desire for cheap labor of the political Right, who denounce their critics as “racists.” Perhaps we can call it an Alliance of Utopias. What these Western Utopians don’t understand is that there is another, competing Utopia of a borderless world: The Islamic Caliphate. As long as the Islamic world can dump their excess population in infidel countries and Muslims make up a majority – some say 70% — of the world’s refugees, any policies of not maintaining our borders will only pave the way for the Islamization of our lands. And it will happen with the blessing of many of our intellectuals, both right-wing and left-wing."
